What is a crypto currency whitepaper?
A written plan or description that the issuer of a virtual currency releases to the public when issuing a crypto currency, for example.
The white paper describes the purpose of the crypto currency issuance, sales method, market size, etc., and serves as a basis for investment decisions.
Why are white papers important?
When issuing a new crypto currency, the issuer of the crypto currency publishes a white paper to explain externally what features the issued crypto currency has. Generally, the white paper is published to explain the significance and purpose of the crypto currency and how it will be sold.
The white paper also describes the expected scale of circulation and the roadmap to realize the objectives, providing a basis for judging whether the crypto currency has future potential.
Although it is now in decline, it was common to issue white papers for initial coin offerings (ICOs), which are similar to initial public offerings (IPOs) in which companies raise funds by issuing shares of stock. In an ICO, the company raises funds by issuing crypto currency instead of shares.
